After over a year of speculation, fan-casting, and rumors of $150-million paydays, Daniel Craig has reportedly agreed to return as James Bond for the franchise’s 25th offering (source: Mirror.co.uk). The Mirror is reporting that Barbara Broccoli has finally “talked Craig around,” and convinced him to return to the role that made him famous over a decade ago. This news will no doubt come as a relief to many Craig-loyalists who have bemoaned the idea of recasting the role, with actors ranging from Tom Hiddleston to Idris Elba rumored as potential replacements.
Additionally, it is reported that Broccoli is “determined” to sign Adele to sing the theme for the film. The British pop-icon previously recorded Skyfall, and subsequently won an Oscar for the track. Indeed, it is a good day to be a Bond-fan. Uncertainty has marred the multibillion-dollar franchise since the release of ‘Spectre’ in 2015, with Craig making his now-infamous ‘wrist-slashing’ comments when asked about his enthusiasm for donning the tuxedo once more. Therefore, it’s a relief to see Bond 25 gaining positive traction. Hopefully, an official announcement will be made soon.
